Chelsea Homes: Traditional or New Development

Which Is Right For You?

Chelsea has two distinct types of housing categories: traditional homes, typically on a plot of land close to one acre, some as many as 2; and homes in the high-density neighbourhoods of Hendricks Farm, Quartier Meredith, and Chelsea Creek.

So what’s the difference?

Traditional Chelsea Homes

New High-Density Neighbourhoods

  • They have a more rural feel.
  • The typical property has an acre lot (sometimes up to 2)
  • They are not connected to municipal services, and have wells and private septic systems.
  • These homes come in a fantastic array of sizes, designs, ages of construction, and intangible qualities of setting.
  • The draw for these homes has traditionally been private country living with a close connection to nature.
  • If you’re looking for a special home with a connection to Gatineau Park, community trails or the river, this may be the option for you.
  • They are generally much more recent in construction.
  • All three developments are on municipal water and septic, and have more urban features, such as paved roads, sidewalks, and streetlights.
  • These development feature detaches homes as well as semi-detached, townhomes and and condos.
  • If a newer home with very close proximity to Chelsea village and the city is a priority, these developments may be the option for you.
